What You Need to Know About Lake Geneva's 2027–2028 Road Reconstruction Project
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reconstructing approximately 2.5 miles of Wisconsin Highway 50 (Main Street) from Forest Street to Grand Geneva Way. The project includes pavement replacement, new traffic signals at 6 intersections, ADA curb ramp reconstruction, drainage improvements, and a new shared-use path between Curtis Street and Edwards Boulevard.
Construction spans two seasons: 2027 and 2028 (approximately March through November each year). Highway 50 carries approximately 16,600 vehicles per day.

Main Street Parking Unavailable
Main Street parking will NOT be available during active construction phases.
Traffic Maintained Downtown
One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained through the downtown core.
Detour Route (Western Section)
Forest Street → Dodge Street → Broad Street
Shuttle/Trolley Service
The city is considering trolley/shuttle service to help visitors reach downtown businesses during construction.
Construction may change how you get here, but every restaurant, shop, and attraction is open and ready to welcome you.
